My autocorrect tried to change the title of this post to ‘blogging’, but I was like “no really, vlogging!’. That’s right, this blog has now evolved like a PokΓ©mon, to a vlog π so I will explain. Plus I will tell you about the Great South Run of course, as well as my Netflix film review, which is now available on a podcast.
Firstly, here is a link to my new YouTube channel/vlog:

On Sunday last weekend, I popped into the recording studio of ‘Is It Worth It? The Film Review Podcast‘ to record my review of Like Father (a Netflix original film), which you can listen to on Week 22, available on all the well known podcast apps. My bit is around the 60th minute of the episode, there’s also an advert with my voice on it somewhere, promoting Cineworld Unlimited.
So at the beginning of last week (Tuesday), I had a job interview. This was a part-time role, for the charity I already work for (Groundwork East). It went well, because I got offered the role the same day π that has never happened to me before π±.
So the position is ‘Project Assistant’ for an eight week project we do called Unlocking Potential. Groundwork ran this exact course in Clacton-on-sea recently, so all project info is here, except my one is in Harlow, Essex.
For two days per week, I will be helping my colleague Kat (Project Officer) run this course. I’m doing this alongside my current job at marketing assistant, so some nice varied weeks to look forward to!
What will I be doing? Essentially helping the volunteers improve green spaces in Harlow town park, as well as residential gardens of vulnerable local residents (elderly and/or disabled).
This gave me a brainwave. I’ve been thinking about vlogging for a while now, and this blog was always going to become one. Now I’ve decided to bring it forward and vlog about the Unlocking Potential course.
Me and my manager have been keen to do more video based marketing. I’m going to be using this vlog, plus my Instagram profile, to produce (hopefully) great videos of this wonderful project in action.
My plan for this is to film myself at the start of each day, explaining what we will be up to. Take footage of the project in action, then another of me talking about the progress with made at the end of the day.
I’m also keen to get the participants/volunteers involved. However, we only do this with their signed consent forms. I’m not going to just whip my phone out and say “smile”, I would hate that if I was in their position.
On top of this, our course is targeted at young people with mental health issues and learning difficulties. So if they don’t want to be on camera, than that’s absolutely more than ok.
Either way, I’m excited for this opportunity to help people going through MH problems (as I was/still managing). I have family with learning difficulties as well, so I’m hoping I can be useful to these volunteers.
First day on the job is TOMORROW. I am spending the day at Harlow Job Centre, meeting potential participants. I will be filming throughout the day, then editing during the rest of the week. Will upload to YouTube as soon as I get time, hopefully before end of this week.
So Sunday was the big run finally! I’m actually working on a seperate post for this, which will hopefully be released by the company I am guest blogging for by end of October. But spoiler alert, I had an amazing day doing the epic run in Portsmouth and can’t wait to share it. I’m also going to share a YouTube video/vlog for it as well π which I’ve already filmed, just need to edit.
Lastly, I might not actually get as much time to do these blog posts now π¦ but hopefully the vlog and other stuff I’m doing will be ok and worth it.
That’s all for now, any questions feel free to get in touch as always.
Happy Monday!
